For this project our client's goal was to become a publisher of manga-style comics.
Our lead artist Allie was tasked with creating a original idea pitch, logo, characters and merchandise for a dark magical girl comic series.
We created a story line, with detailed list of events and lay out of volume structure for 6 volumes. We were also in charge of the branding - logo, promotion ideas and merchandise creation. In the images below there is a bookmark design, as well as sticker sheets.
Short synopsis: Marin Salisbury has just started going to an art college in a quaint beach town, inspired by her father’s pictures of her late mother, she aspires to become a photographer. Her college life is going great, she’s joined the swim team and made new friends - including the attractive oil painter Cryus Lotan. But there's darkness lurking in paradise, water monsters have been killing the locals. Soon, Marin learns of her mother’s mysterious past as a magical warrior who fought against the cetus aided by siren’s magic. Marin follows in her mother’s footsteps by transforming into the beautiful and deadly Aphrodite Alter. Not all is as it seems though, and as Marin’s life starts to fall apart she discovers the ugly truth...
